WEIGHTLIFTING WORKSHOP @ LIVERPOOL STRENGTH

Here at Liverpool Strength we're passionate about everything strength training, and with this beginners weightlifting workshop we're keen to get complete beginners into the gym so that we can talk them through the weightlifting movements of snatch and clean and jerk.

FAQ'S

  • Do I need any experience?

    Nope, absolutely not. We're keen to get as many people into the sport as we can, no experience is required. We've got you covered!

  • Where is it?

    The workshop will take place at our training facility, just off the dock road. The full address is: Unit 8, Millers Bridge Industrial estate, Seymour Street, L20 1EE. 


    We're the first unit on the left, as you come through the gate at the top of Seymour street.

  • What date is it, and what time does it start?

    Its on Saturday 25th June, and starts at Midday. We're dedicating a minimum of 2 hours into the session to cover a full warm up, mobility assessment, and coverage of the lifts. 


    It also gives us plenty of time to chat about lifting, and give feedback throughout. 

  • How much is it?

    The workshop is £20. Which is ridiculous value!

  • Do I need to bring anything?

    Come dressed as you would for a normal gym session. If you have weightlifting shoes, bring those, if not, don't sweat it, normal trainers are fine. 


    Oh and bring a water bottle with you! We have a nice fresh water machine! 

  • Who will be coaching me?

    Our weightlifting coaches (We have three of them) who all hold British Weightlifting level 2 qualifications, as well as several years of coaching experience.

  • Do you run regular weightlifting sessions?

    Yes, we do. They're on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The movements in weightlifting are highly technical, and without the right guidance and support can lead to frustration, missed attempts and even injury.


We want to help you avoid those pitfalls before you've even started by getting coached through the entirety of the movements.


Our coaches will help and guide you to make sense of the movements, and perform them in a safe and effective way.


So whether you just want to learn something new and cool, or you have aspirations to compete in the sport (Like Luxiaojun over there), we've got you covered!

OUR COACHES

MARTIN KIMBERLEY - Martin is the head coach of Liverpool strength, he  won the 2020 North Open series, and has been competing and coaching weightlifting for over 5 years, and has over 10 years experience in Strength training. Still currently competing, and looking to qualify for, as well as coach athletes towards national championship level.

MARK TALLETT - Mark is the lead coach for the weightlifting only sessions  we run every Monday and Thursday, he provides programming for the team through a dedicated app, and is always on hand to offer support, guidance and motivation. He has competed in weightlifting for several years, and is currently the head coach of the University of Liverpool weightlifting team, where this year they had several medalists at University nationals.

JAMES MACPHIE - James is a semi retired weightlifter, who has a wealth of regional and national competition experience. He has competed at the English championships, and coached athletes at the British championships, as well as several regional events. He has several years of coaching experience and knowledge surrounding the sport, and has an ability to adapt training towards the more competitive side of things, or alternatively to those just wanting to have fun!

As noted above, all our coaches have a wealth of coaching and competition experience, we've walked the talk, trained hard and competed. All our coaches are also fully licensed and accredited level 2 British weightlifting coaches. So you know you're in great hands!
